Vision
The Department strives to be a leader in integrating science and technology, fostering a community of lifelong learners who will find solutions to global challenges. We achieve this by encouraging meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration in Physics, Geology, and Engineering Technology, and enabling students to address future challenges.
Mission
Our mission is to inspire and prepare students from diverse backgrounds to become leaders in physics, geology, and engineering technology, equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to address the scientific and technological challenges of a changing world. We are committed to providing an environment that fosters academic and professional growth through critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, laboratory experience, hands-on learning, field exploration, and community engagement.
Objectives

The Department of Physics, Geology, and Engineering Technology provides courses and programs that lead students into productive careers in physics, geology, engineering technology, and related areas, that support other academic programs and the general education goals of the University, or that prepare students for further study at the graduate or professional level.

In service of the community, the Department makes its facilities and equipment available, and individual faculty, staff, and students give their time and expertise in support of community, educational and other science-related projects.  Department faculty engage in research commensurate with our primary emphasis on teaching and learning, and place particular emphasis on involving students in their research activities.
